THE CHILD'S ENVIRONMENTAL RIGHTS
How appalling is it to bring forth a child into this evil Sahel
The Sahell that has been destroyed with axes and fires
The Sahell that has no future.
Man ignorantly exposes the soil of the Sahell to erosion.
ignorantly kills the young and tender plants that germinate yearly.
Ignorantly scares the animals away.
Ignorantly destroys the canopy.
Man is ignorantly committing suicide.
Hey, Children of the Sahell; shout in unison to stop him from his suicidal act.
Stop, stop and stop I say
For the forest or flora you destroy is of great importance
It gives us rain, oxygen and food.
It gives us medicine, shelter and animal feed.
It acts as a wind breaker and fauna habitat.
It acts as heat moderator.
How appalling is it to bring forth a child into this evil Sahel
Only to be deprived from using the forest.
Only to be starved and emaciate to death.
The Sahell is our only Sahell.
Together we should pledge to use some and plant some
For the simple reason that wilful waste makes woeful want.
